American Solar Repair is the fastest growing solar repair company in the US. Our mission is to treat every solar repair customer like they are our Grandma, and every employee like they are a Human. What does that mean? For our customers, we aim to provide a compassionate experience, only use proper materials, stand by our work with a strong warranty, and not “sell” the customer on anything they don’t need. For our employees, that means avoiding burn out, a culture of trust, providing great benefits, etc. We are a team of eclectic, caring, dedicated professionals trying to use our skills and passion to scale a nation-wide company and do some good along the way. Matthew Messer
Founder / CEO
Over the past decade, Matt has held leadership positions at national and regional solar maintenance companies, including serving as National Operations Manager for SST, Northeast Service Manager for Tesla, Hawaii Service Manager for HNU Energy, and Partner at Sunrise Solar Solutions. During this time, his teams have successfully completed over 65,000 solar repairs on behalf of both Fortune 500 PPA holders such as SunPower, NRG, SunRun, and Tesla, as well as individual homeowners and businesses. Matt has a background in Finance and Operations Management, having studied at Boston University, and holds various certifications, including Advanced NABCEP PV Installation Professional, OSHA 30, and LEED GA..
Angie Torres
Customer Success Supervisor Angie works closely with our solar clients to understand their needs and goals, provide training and support, and proactively address any issues or concerns. Angie has a solid understanding of our solar services, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Charlie Lopez
Director of Operations Charlie is responsible for overseeing and directing the day-to-day operations of our business to ensure efficiency. Charlie works closely with the executive team to develop and execute the company’s strategic plan, and overseew the implementation of new initiatives and projects.
Luis Sierra
Operations Supervisor Luis oversees and manages the work of our team of solar technicians who are responsible for the maintenance and repair of solar panels. Luis’ goal is to ensure that all solar panel services are performed to the highest possible standards and that customer satisfaction is achieved.
Davor Jankov
Operations Assistant Davor takes on multiple roles and responsibilities that contribute to the smooth functioning of the organization. One of Davor’s primary responsibilities is sourcing talent, which involves actively seeking out potential candidates who can bring value to the organization.
Nelson Rincon
Operations Supervisor Nelson oversees the day-to-day operations of his team of repair technicians. He is responsible for ensuring that his team works efficiently to diagnose and repair solar panels, inverters, and other equipment to maintain optimal performance for our clients.
Jim Hewitt
Technical Supervisor Jim has been working in solar maintenance for more than 10 years. He is the ultimate solar nerd; sometimes he can figure out what’s wrong just by hearing an inverter click. When a technician finds something confusing, Jim is probably about to get a call.
Scott Hamilton
Sales Representative Scott has a storied background in sales and martial arts. He thrives on listening to our clients and creating the perfect quote for permanent solar panel removals, or a removal and reinstall for roof leaks or roof repairs nationwide.
Luis Porras
Operations Supervisor Luis oversees the day-to-day operations of his team of repair technicians. He is responsible for ensuring that his team works efficiently to diagnose and repair solar panels, inverters, and other equipment to maintain optimal performance for our clients.

With each member bringing their unique skillset, industry knowledge, and business acumen to the table, American Solar Repair benefits from a well-rounded and comprehensive approach to problem-solving and strategic planning.
Phillip Stephenson
Phillip Stephenson is Principal of Intrepid Energy LLC and an energy consultant and entrepreneur working across the energy supply chain with electric vehicle, smart grid, solar and energy storage project development and operations and maintenance companies. Prior to founding Intrepid, Phillip was the Vice President of Operations and Maintenance for Borrego Solar for 5 years where he grew the O&M organization to managing over 850 solar projects nationwide representing over 950MWs of distributed solar and energy projects. In his career prior to Borrego, Phillip worked in solar project development, international development and telecommunications. Phillip received his MBA from MIT Sloan and his BA from Reed College.
Molly Bales
Molly Bales is the Storage Development Manager at Recurrent Energy, where she has spearheaded the development of solar and storage projects across the Eastern United States. Before joining Recurrent, she worked at Harvest Power, a Boston-based organics recycling company that specializes in anaerobic digestion facilities. During her tenure, the company grew from a 13-employee operation to a 600-strong workforce, and Molly held various positions, including business development, marketing, project management, and sales. She holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, focusing on energy, sustainability, and entrepreneurship, and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, where she majored in the History of Science with a subfield in Earth & Planetary Sciences.
Doug Hertz
Doug is the President of Sunrise Solar Solutions in Briarcliff Manor, NY. He is responsible for technology, design, and finance for Sunrise. He is NABCEP Certified and is a member of the American Solar Energy Society and the New York Energy Industries Association. Doug spent 2 decades in lighting and electrical design for television, film and architecture before moving into solar. He gives talks on solar energy to groups from the Westchester Building Inspectors to the American Solar Energy Society, and is a frequent guest on radio, in print, and on energy panels throughout the Hudson Valley.
